A Few Facts About Carnotaurus

  • Carnotaurus, meaning “meat-eating bull,” was named for its carnivorous diet and the bull-like horns on its skull.
  • Only one Carnotaurus skeleton has ever been found, and it was discovered in 1984 in Argentina.
  • This dino was built for running! Carnotaurus was possibly one of the fastest theropods, a suborder of dinosaurs that includes species like CoelophysisTyrannosaurus rex, and many more.

Last Year’s Painted Dino

For the fourth annual Paint the Dino Coloring Contest, kids had the opportunity to create the custom paint job for Muttaburrasaurus, a new-to-the-zoo dino for 2016. Haley Bower’s colorful and creative design looked great painted on this big guy!
