A Few Facts About Euoplocephalus

Euoplocephalus - Paint the Dino Coloring Contest 2018 | Clyde Peeling's Reptiland
  • Euoplocephalus, meaning “well-armored head,” was named for its very well protected head.
  • Discovered in North America, this dino lived during the Cretaceous period which was 70-65 million years ago!
  • Euoplocephalus had bony horns on its head, large spikes along its body, a club-like tail, and bony plates embedded in the skin on top of its body—the only unprotected area was its underbelly!

Last Year’s Painted Dino

For the fifth annual Paint the Dino Coloring Contest, kids had the opportunity to create the custom paint job for Carnotaurus, a new-to-the-zoo dino for 2017. Brooke Woll’s colorful and creative design looked great painted on this big guy!
