Explore the zoo . . . after dark!

Flashlight Safari

October 23 & 24, 2020 from 6:00-9:00 pm

Like everything else in 2020, Flashlight Safari is going to look a little different this year. While we’re disappointed that we won’t be able to do some of the fun activities we normally would, we’re going to make the best of it because there will still be plenty of fun at this festive fall event! We hope you will join us for it!

Many of our animals become active at night. Take a peek at their “secret” after-hours activities with a special safari through our Exhibit Gallery with only a flashlight to guide you!

See lots of critters in action including mambas, cobras, pythons, and rattlesnakes, along with aquatic turtles, poisonous dart frogs, tree monitors, and crocodilians.

Health & Safety Precautions

For the health and safety of both staff and guests, we ask that everyone visiting the zoo wear a face covering when indoors and practice social distancing at all times. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Live Shows at 6:00, 7:00, and 8:00

Take in a show featuring a great horned owl, Norway rat, scorpion, kinkajou, rattlesnake, and more!

You’ll be amazed by the efficiency of most nocturnal animals. Snakes, for example, are among the most efficient nocturnal predators even though they have poor eyesight. Their excellent sense of smell aids in detecting and tracking prey. Snakes smell with their tongue and some even have heat-sensing organs on either side of their heads to detect the distance and location of prey!

Learn all this and more with our nocturnal shows at 6:00, 7:00, and 8:00.*

Torchlit Dinos

No flashlights needed here—experience Dinosaurs Come to Life lit with torches and spotlights! Trek through this prehistoric path to see the impressive Tyrannosaurus rex as well as Stegosaurus, Triceratops, and more!

Fall Fun

Experience the zoo like never before! Enjoy boo-tiful surroundings with creatively carved jack-o-lanterns, torchlit paths, and more.

And NEW for this year: our very own marshmallow toasting station! Enjoy the crisp autumn air and the glow of smoldering hot coals while you toast up a tasty treat! We’ve created an innovative contraption for allowing the children to toast their own marshmallows in a fun, safe way. So take a break from your safari and head to the Picnic Tent to take advantage of this!

Note: Reptiland staff will be stationed in the tent to control the flow of traffic in this area, hand out supplies, etc., but children must be supervised at all times. Face coverings must also be worn to participate in this activity. Thank you for your understanding as we try to keep everyone safe.

NEW: Festive Photos with Darwin

New for this year, we are offering the chance to have your photo taken with Darwin the great horned owl with a fun, Halloween-themed background! For just $12, you’ll get up close to this impressive animal and take home a great souvenir to remember your time at Flashlight Safari.

Tickets for this special experience can be purchased at the admissions desk on the night of the event.

Note: No more than two adults and one child can be in one picture, and one person is preferable as too many people may make the owl nervous.
